2022 St Paul's Newsletter - Term 4, Week 11
From the Principal
Final day for 2022: Friday 16 December, 3:00pm
Dear Families,
As we come to the end of our school year, I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks and gratitude for such a successful school year. To the countless volunteers that have contributed to the life of our school this year - thank you! At St Paul's we are extremely fortunate to have so many people who give so generously of their time and talents. It is an absolute pleasure and privilege to be a school leader in the St Paul's Community. So once again, thank you!
I would like to acknowledge the families who will be leaving St Paul's, with their youngest child graduating this year or changing circumstances. I would like to thank them for entrusting our staff for the education and care of their child. I would also like to thank them for their many and varied contributions to our community - thank you!
A special thank you to our dedicated and hardworking staff. The staff at St Paul's strive to provide the best learning environment to meet the individual needs of all students in our school. They have a strong commitment to professional learning, a true example of what it means to be life-long learners. Being a teacher can be extremely challenging but also incredibly rewarding. I am most grateful for the support of all staff in working towards our school motto; `Love One Another’.
Thank you most of all to our amazing students at St Paul's. It has been a pleasure to lead you as School Principal and to observe and acknowledge the academic, social and spiritual growth in so many of our students.
St Paul's Angel Tree
Last Tuesday our Year 5's delivered the gifts from our Angel Tree to Monbulk Care. It was such a positive experience, and Monbulk Care were SO grateful.
We say a huge thanks to our community for your donations, it meant a lot to the people at Monbulk Care and to all of us at St Paul's.
St Paul's is Building a Library in Tramri, Pakistan!
We are proud to announce to our community that our Years 4-6 students reached their goal and raised $10,417.97!!! This was achieved through commitment, entrepreneurialism and sheer hard work.
The Real School and College, located in Tramri Pakistan, educates 450 students. Tramri is a semi-rural, low-income community. Currently, the school has one screen, one computer system, two speakers, a playground, and 12 rooms.
The children at the school have some paper and pencils, but they have no library, and we have been able to change that for them!
The money raised in this project will go to building The Real School and College a library and we could not be prouder of our community. We say a huge thanks to our supporters in the community that have enabled our students to accomplish this magnificent feat, and we can definitely call ourselves "CHANGEMAKERS".
Working Bee Thank You
Last Thursday 8 December we held our final Working Bee for the year. It was most productive as our parents assisted us with setting classrooms up for next year! We also got some much needed gardening work done, and we are very grateful to the following families for their assistance: Gardner, Barnard, Dennison/Cook, Salter and Carne.
School Advisory Council AGM
Last Thursday, 8 December, we held our School Advisory Council Annual General Meeting. We discussed the latest MACS Strategy - "MACS 2030" and we asked for nominations for new members. We officially welcomed Lein Jenkins and Simon Doherty to the SAC. Deb Czaja and David Edwards have also nominated, and we will welcome those people at our first meeting next year.
I once again wish to thank and acknowledge every member of our School Advisory Council for your guidance and support this year. We say a huge thanks to Fr Cruz for his support, and also to Cara for her continued dedication as our Chairperson. Particularly we thank and acknowledge the contribution of Troy Czaja as he steps away from the SAC after 4 years of dedication. Troy served as a previous Chairperson and was an innovative and approachable parent leader. We thank Troy very much on behalf of the school community.
St Pauls' 2023 Staffing Update
We have a couple of last minute staffing announcements to make.
Stephenie Peels, one of our dedicated leaders, has decided to hand over her Deputy Principal role next year. Stephenie has been a fantastic Deputy Principal in recent times, leading us through the Covid lockdowns, supporting students, families and staff, being an exemplary role model for others and just a great person to work with. Stephenie is not leaving St Paul's, and will continue as Learning and Teaching Leader, as well as Literacy Leading Teacher and Intervention.
It is my pleasure to announce that Carolynne Boyd will step into the Deputy Principal Role. This is great news for our school, as Carolynne has a great deal of Leadership experience, and is an asset to our entire community. Carolynne will be released by Julie Dietrich from her classroom teaching duties each Wednesday, and every second Friday, as our RE Curriculum Leader and Deputy Principal. We thank Carolynne very much.
Irene Haritos, our most valued Performing Arts/Music teacher, will be taking Long Service Leave for Terms 1 and 2 next year. We welcome Teresa Fraraccio to our staff for Terms 1 and 2 to teach Performing Arts/Music. Bus Services
School bus services will resume for St Paul’s students on the first official day of school – Monday 30 January 2023.
I wish to thank and acknowledge all of those people that donated to Teacher Presence. Your donations amounted to a total of $170 that will support "EAT UP".
What is Eat Up?
Children frequently arrive at school without the food they need to fuel their growing bodies and brains. Missing out on lunch has a big impact on children, with hunger causing fatigue and poor concentration. With the help of our partners and dedicated volunteers, each week Eat Up makes and delivers over 12,000 lunches directly to schools for vulnerable children. Eat Up is Australia’s only organisation providing free lunches to students on a national scale. To date they have provided over 2.2 million lunches to Aussie kids in need. Thnk you for your support.
