St Paul's Newsletter: Thursday, 11 August 2022
2022 St Paul's Newsletter - Term 3, Week 5
From the Principal
Dear Families,
This weekend we will hold our First Eucharist Mass. This is also known as First Holy Communion. The students involved will receive the Eucharist (bread and wine) at Mass for the first time. This is a significant time in the life of our school and parish communities and we extend a warm invitation to all families to this Sunday’s celebration at St Paul’s Church at 11am.
In receiving the sacrament of the First Eucharist (or First Holy Communion), we remember what Jesus did for us in his life, death and resurrection. We remember the Last Supper particularly; that final meal Jesus shared with his disciples. Jesus gave us the Eucharist so we could remember him in a special way. When we receive Eucharist, we are nourishing our spirit. We become one with Jesus, and we become one with each other. As a community, we become 'the body of Christ'. The Eucharist is our great sign of unity as a community.
Please pray for the following children who will be receiving their First Eucharist this weekend: Alex, Annalise, Heidi, Lexi, Sarah K, Isabelle and Sophie.
Book Week Free Dress Day: Monday 22 August
Being so close to the school musical, costumes for Book Week might be a bit tricky! On Monday 22 August, students are invited to wear free dress, or "dress up" as their favourite book character.
Wonder in Aliceland - Thursday 1 September
Tickets are now on sale for Wonder in Aliceland.
The first allocation of tickets is now on sale. The second allocation will be available from 27 August onwards.
Please ensure that if you wish to purchase tickets, that you do so prior to 27 August as we expect the last remaining tickets to sell out.
I am grateful for the understanding and patience shown by our community when we were organising ticket allocations, particularly maximum purchase numbers. We want as many people to see the show as possible, while at the same time, ensuring that no family misses out on a ticket.
In other news, we have booked a videographer to film the evening show! We are thrilled that we will be able to offer a filmed copy of the show for sale, but at the risk of prematurely advertising a price, we will keep that under our madhats for now!
Hooptime
Our Grade 5 and 6 students played in the Hooptime Basketball competition on Wednesday 10th August. Our teams had a very successful day with only one official loss for the whole day. Once again, the sportsmanship and teamwork was exceptional and I am so proud of the behaviour of our students. Special thanks to Cara Kirby, Mary Larkin and Cherry for their help with the teams. We may have some students keen to join a basketball team. The students' knowledge and skills of the game certainly improved with each match. Great work St Paul's, what a fabulous day.
Warm regards,
Michael Watt
From the School Office
Rapid Antigen Test Kits (RATs)
As per government guidelines, schools are still being provided with RAT kits for staff and students during Term 3, however schools are no longer required to routinely send them home with students. We are instead providing them to St Paul's families on request.
If you would like to collect RAT kits from school or would like them to be sent home with your child/children, please either phone or email the school office.
