2022 St Paul's Newsletter - Term 2, Week 9
From the Principal
Dear Families,
As another school term draws to a close, I would like to commend our students for their hard work and continued efforts to improve all aspects of their learning.
Our school focus is always on improving student outcomes and I can confidently say, based on our observations and various assessments, that all students at St Paul's are provided with every opportunity to learn, grow and reach their full potential.
I would also like to equally commend our hard-working staff; school leaders, classroom teachers, classroom support and administration staff, for their commitment to ongoing professional learning for the benefit of our students. I am particularly grateful for the dedication of our staff to their profession and incredibly proud of our students and their many achievements.
Well done to everyone on a great first semester!
- Term 2 concludes at 3:00pm tomorrow.
- School returns for Term 3 on Monday 11 July.
St Paul's Disco: Friday 15 July 6:00 - 8:00pm
The St Paul's School Disco will be hosted by the great people at "Bop Til You Drop"! You may remember "Bop Til You Drop" from last year's virtual disco... the team of DJ's at "Bop Til You Drop" really get the party going!
Tickets can now be purchased via CDFPay.
The event is for St Paul's students only.
We thank Tash K and our P&F Committee for organising our Disco.
Farewell and Welcome
We say farewell and wish Ava P all the best as she moves to another school closer to her home. We thank Ava's family for the support they have provided to St Paul's during their time here and wish Ava well for the future.
Next term we welcome Patrick into Year 2. We are looking forward to getting to know Patrick and his family as they settle into Year 2 with Mrs V and Mrs D and we know that our families will make them welcome.
Save the Date: Grandparents and Special Person's Day - Wednesday 27 July
‘Grandparents' and Special Person’s Day’ will be held on Wednesday 27 July. We warmly invite either the grandparents of the children, or other special persons in their lives, to come to the school for the morning. The day will commence at 9am with the children and guests playing games and dancing, followed by a very special Mass at 10:15am celebrating the place of these important people in the children’s lives. The children will be sorted according to their family groups.
Following the activities and Mass, our special guests are warmly invited to stay on for morning tea. What a sensational day it will be!
Tram Art Works - From Mrs Kleverkamp
A couple of weeks ago a very talented lady had a tram covered in her paintings. Louise Moore's paintings tell stories of cultural history that can now be shared with the many passengers and onlookers of this tram. We are planning to welcome Nanny Louise to our school next term to share her story and expertise with our students.
Covid-19 Update:
As you would be aware, following advice from the Acting Chief Health Officer, the Victorian Government recently announced changes to the pandemic orders.
As of 11.59pm Friday 24 June (in effect from the start of Term 3 2022), there will no longer be a mandated vaccination requirement for staff working in mainstream schools.
With almost 100% of school staff now vaccinated across Victoria, this will cause little change to our school.
As part of the changes, from 11.59pm Friday 24 June 2022, parents and carers who have COVID-19 can transport their non-COVID-19 children via private vehicle to their primary or secondary school when an alternative person is not available to assist. This will include school holiday programs held on school grounds.
This means that parents and carers will be able to leave COVID self-isolation to take their non-COVID-19 child to school or school holiday programs via a private vehicle.
The parent or carer must travel directly to and from the school only. They must remain in the vehicle at all times, unless it is reasonably necessary to leave the vehicle to walk the child to and from the entrance of the school safely. They must wear a face mask at all times.
We ask parents and carers who have COVID-19 to use the drop off zone in the morning for school drop off, and stay in your car. For pick up in the afternoon, parents and carers who have COVID-19 can make individual arrangements with the school office. Please contact me on 9756 7201 to discuss this if you have tested positive. Parents and carers who have COVID-19 must avoid getting out of their car on school grounds.
Family members are asked to continue reporting positive COVID-19 cases to the Department of Health.
You must also let the school know if your child is a close contact. Students who are close contacts and want to attend should still take 5 RATs over 7 days and wear a face mask whilst indoors if they are aged 8 years or over.
Students should continue to stay home if they are unwell, even if they test negative on a RAT.
Thank you for your support as we continue to make these adjustments.
Warm regards,
Michael Watt

NCCD Information for Families
School Car Park Procedure
With regard to safety within the school car park, please note the following:
- Children, regardless of age, must always be accompanied by an adult when walking through the car park to the school or vice versa (In other words, hold the hands of young children. Older children should never be more than 1m away from an adult.)
- Children and adults should always use the designated pathways - please do not stand and talk on the asphalt basketball court before or after school when it is used for parking
- Please stay with your car if you stop in the drop off zone (under the basketball rings - quick drop off only)
- At the conclusion of the school day, when children have been collected from their classroom, they should never be allowed to go to their vehicle unaccompanied by an adult, regardless of their age.
These regulations exist to ensure the safety of all children and adults within the car park area.
In summary, the following changes have been made to our asphalt area:
- Car park bays at the centre and edges of the court are painted in blue
- Crossing/walking paths have been painted to indicate safe walking areas (note: some of these paths are being finished off in the coming days/weeks, weather dependent)
- There is now NO REVERSE PARKING at the bottom of our asphalt area - this has been removed in the best interest of safety.
Lunch Clubs are BACK!
Our lunchtime clubs are back up and running. They are held in the library/open learning space 1:30-2pm, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
