2022 St Paul's Newsletter - Term 2, Week 5
From the Principal
Dear Families,
Confirmation is the sacrament that enriches the baptised with the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that they may grow in stature as Christians and give witness to Christ more fully.
By the laying on of hands and anointing with the Sacred Oil of Chrism, Confirmation seals and completes Baptism. Through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, candidates are filled with the grace to follow the example of Christ and serve others.
This Saturday, at 2:00pm, the Sacrament of Confirmation will be held in our St Paul's Church. We wish the candidates all the very best on the day as we celebrate them becoming full members of the Catholic Church. Please congratulate:
- Sophia
- Henry
- Kristian
- Caleb
- Evie
- Kiera

National Reconciliation Week
The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. See below for the National Reconciliation Week Fact Sheet.
Ready, Set, Prep! Pre-school Program
Last Monday we began our "Ready, Set, Prep!" program. It was a huge success. We can't thank Julie Dietrich, assisted by Bosa Sofranic-Carter, enough, for their efforts in running the session. It was extremely well planned and organised, and our families gained a great deal from the morning.
Continuing fortnightly, on a Monday at 10:00am until the end of Term 3, we are running sessions on school readiness for pre-school children. ALL kinder children are welcome! Parents of pre-schoolers are invited to register their child for these special "Ready, Set, Prep!" school readiness activity sessions that will help prepare children for school in the future.
Prayer Gathering: Monday 30 May
This Monday at 2:10pm we will hold our next Prayer Gathering Assembly. The Prayer will be lead by our Year 5/6 students in our Church. Parents are welcome to join us.
Yours sincerely,
Michael Watt
Guild: Congratulations!
Last Saturday, two St Paul's familes, one past family and one current family - the Coynes and Prices - were presented with their Guild of St Stephen for Altar Servers at St Patrick’s Cathedral. The Archbishop of Melbourne presented them with their medals and they represented the parish of Belgrave with distinction. A huge congratulations to all!

School Car Park Procedure
With regard to safety within the school, you may be aware that our school basketball court/car park lines are in the process of being re-done. Please note the following:
- Children, regardless of age, must always be accompanied by an adult when walking through the car park to the school or vice versa (In other words, hold the hands of young children. Older children should never be more than 1m away from an adult.)
- Children and adults should always use the designated pathways - please do not stand and talk on the asphalt basketball court before or after school when it is used for parking
- Please stay with your car if you stop in the drop off zone (under the basketball rings - quick drop off only)
- At the conclusion of the school day, when children have been collected from their classroom, they should never be allowed to go to their vehicle unaccompanied by an adult, regardless of their age.
These regulations exist to ensure the safety of all children and adults within the car park area.
Over the holidays we have made some changes to our school car park. These changes are indicated by painting blue lines for our car park bays, directional lines and crossing spaces. A new car park map is provided below - please note the traffic flow requirements carefully. In summary, the following changes have been made to our asphalt area:
- Car park bays at the centre and edges of the court are painted in blue
- Crossing/walking paths have been painted to indicate safe walking areas (note: some of these paths are being finished off in the coming days/weeks, weather dependent)
- There is now NO REVERSE PARKING at the bottom of our asphalt area - this has been removed in the best interest of safety.
Lunch Clubs are BACK!
Our lunchtime clubs are back up and running. They are held in the library/open learning space 1:30-2pm, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
We have some very keen downballers here at St Paul's. They may like to participate in an upcoming Downball Tournament.
Students can enter the grade 3-4 tournament or the grade 5-6 tournament.
Please read the rules though and sign up via their webpage.
