St Paul's Newsletter: Thursday 20 May
2021 St Paul's Newsletter - Term 2, Week 5
From the Principal
Dear Families,
The Sacrament of Confirmation is a very important event as Catholics reaffirm the Baptismal promise that their Godparents made for them. During the Confirmation ceremony, we are fully initiated in the Catholic Church and recognise our continued faith journey. The children within our school and parish who have committed to receiving the sacrament of Confirmation have spent several weeks preparing with their teachers and families. The children have worked with their classroom teacher, Miss Boyd, to research their chosen saint. Students have learned about the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. They have taken time to create wonderful posters for display on the Church walls and spent a lot of time exploring what the Sacrament means to them. We have held two Parent & Child Confirmation Workshops at St Paul’s Church. Mrs Irene Haritos facilitated the sessions. The sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated at St Paul’s on Saturday 29 May at 2:00pm.
Production News
St Paul's is pleased to announce this year’s School Musical will be ‘SHREK Jnr’. Auditions for lead roles will soon begin and Mrs Haritos is looking forward to working with each class to ensure participation of all students is achieved. Our Production will be held at the Burrinja Cultural Centre in Upwey, Thursday 2 September. This event is considered compulsory for all students. There will be a matinee performance during the day and also an evening performance.
Our Parents & Friends Committee approved $4,000 of P&F funds to support the production of Shrek Jnr. We are grateful to all of our families for their generous fundraising efforts and to the P&F Committee for their support.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)
What is the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data? Schools must now complete the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) every year. Teachers document and record each additional adjustment they make to support students at school. When teachers modify tasks, differentiate teaching to meet individual needs, set up a program with Learning Support Staff, meet with parents or any other type of adjustment, this is recorded and forms part of our NCCD data collection. The NCCD data is then used as a basis for school funding for special needs and helps governments plan for the requirements of students with a disability.
