2024 St Paul's Newsletter - Term 2, Week 11
From the Principal
Good Afternoon everyone,
How exciting that it is the last week of Term Two! Our students have learned so much throughout the semester, and it was great to see that learning shared last night through our 3-way conversations. If you haven’t done so, please look at Seesaw and the continuous assessment and check the reports on nForma’s Parent Portal. If you can not access the reports, please reach out to Helen in the office. We have been informed by nForma of the following information.
“A known issue where a number of parents may NOT receive a Password Reset or Welcome to the Portal email. They tend to be Bigpond and Optus domains. Our email provider indicates some of those emails soft bounce or hard bounce. We don’t have control on this unfortunately, but we suggest advising parents that they contact their email provider and explain that the nForma domain has been blocked.”
If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher or myself.
Last week we held Crazy Sock Day which was organised by Mini Monbulkers. The day raised $120 and many warm woolly donations to help those in need in our local community. Mini Monbulkers are still chasing family recipes for the Whole School Recipe Book they are creating. Recipes can be emailed to the office or sent in with your child.
During the holidays, with great excitement, the school will be transferring to mains sewerage and we will be losing our treatment plant as it is retired, dismantled and sent off to become something else. It has treated us well for 40 years, but I think the community will be excited by the open space and a more pleasant aroma around St Paul’s.
School concludes at the normal time of 3.00pm tomorrow afternoon, and the students return on Monday 15th July. The holidays are a great time to stop, take a breath and recharge. I would like to thank the families, students and staff for their endeavours throughout the first half of the year. We wish Stephenie Peels all the best on her new adventures at The Knox School, and on behalf of all the staff, we wish you a safe and happy holiday period. We can’t wait to see you again in a couple of weeks.
Thanks
Nick

Semester 1 Report
This semester we’ve done lots of different and fun things. Everyone has enjoyed the first 2 terms at school and are looking forward to the rest of the year.
Here is what we’ve done this term.
The first thing we did was welcome our new principal, Mr Frederiksen. Everyone was excited to meet him and see what he’s like.
We’ve also had many sport events, including a Whole School Cross Country, where we had to do a certain amount of laps and had the chance to go into district, division and even regionals! We have also had Athletics Day. There were events like high jump and relays that we earned ribbons for and at the end house points totals were announced. People who did really well got to go to district athletics and represent our school later in the term. The last thing we did for sporting events was District Inter School Sports. There were teams for netball and soccer and we got to choose which sport we wanted to play. We had lots of fun and probably want to play more of our chosen sport.
Enrol now for 2025
We respectfully request existing families with a child/ren intending to commence Prep at St Paul's in 2025 submit their completed Enrolment Packs into the school office as soon as possible. Enrolment Packs can be downloaded from the school website. Alternatively, paper copies or emailed forms can be requested from the school office. Thank you!
If you know of a family that is considering St Paul's for their child/ren, please encourage them to get in touch with us and book a tour, or direct them to our website.

Child Safe Standards: Ministerial Order 1359
St Paul's Primary School is a child safe organisation which welcomes all children, young people, and their families. We are committed to providing environments where our students are safe and feel safe, where their participation is valued, their views respected, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives.
Our child safe policies, strategies and practices are inclusive of the needs of all children and students. We have no tolerance for child abuse and take proactive steps to identify and manage any risks of harm to students in our school environments. We also take proactive steps to identify and manage any risk of harm to students in our school. When child safety concerns are raised or identified, we treat these seriously and respond promptly and thoroughly.
The original Child Safe Standards were implemented in Victoria during 2016. They were developed in response to The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Abuse (2013 - 2017). In 2019 Victoria agreed to adopt the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. Schools are one example of a Child Safe Organisation.
There are eleven Child Safe Standards:
Child Safe Standard 1 – Organisations establish a culturally safe environment in which the diverse and unique identities and experiences of Aboriginal children and young people are respected and valued.
Child Safe Standard 2 – Child safety and wellbeing is embedded in organisational leadership, governance and culture.
Child Safe Standard 3 – Children and young people are empowered about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously.
Child Safe Standard 4 – Families and communities are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing.
Child Safe Standard 5 – Equity is upheld and diverse needs respected in policy and practice.
Child Safe Standard 6 – People working with children and young people are suitable and
supported to reflect child safety and wellbeing values in practice.
Child Safe Standard 7 – Processes for complaints and concerns are child focused.
Child Safe Standard 8 – Staff and volunteers are equipped with the knowledge, skills and awareness to keep children and young people safe through ongoing education and training.
Child Safe Standard 9 – Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed.
Child Safe Standard 10 – Implementation of the Child Safe Standards is regularly reviewed and improved.
Child Safe Standard 11 – Policies and procedures document how the organisation is safe for children and young people.
MACS provides Catholic schools with templates for the required documentation which we are required to adapt to reflect our school community whilst ensuring all legal requirements are met. Below are 3 key documents that we continue to review in light of the new standards:
